I forkant av et lakseseminar på Quadra Isle i British Columbia fredag, ble det fremmet drapstrusler mot den norske delegasjonen.

På et nettforum ble det blant annet ytret ønske om å plassere ut en skarpskytter på stedet hvor følget ankom.

Per Sandberg (Frp) forteller at nordmennene var kjent med drapstruslene da de kjørte inn mot konferansesenteret.

- Vi ble kjent med truslene før vi satte oss på bussen. Men vi vurderte ikke på noen måte å avlyse. Vi endret i stedet programmet på seminaret, slik at vi fikk rom for de kritiske røstene, sier Sandberg.

Foran konferansesenteret ble den norske delegasjonen møtt av rundt tretti demonstranter som fysisk hindret bussen i å kjøre videre. Det resulterte i at de måtte gå ut av bussen midt i mengden av demonstranter, og stemningen ble ganske amper.

På ett tidspunkt mistet lakseselskapet Mainstreams kommunikasjonsdirektør oversikten, og forvekslet Sandberg med en demonstrant . På videoreportasjen laget av den kanadiske tv-kanalen CTV, kan man se hvordan hun ber ham om å slutte å dytte henne.
