Sometimes cuando I&#x92;m driving next to home I like to vuelta onto Central Avenue in Kansas Bishopric, Kan., and go past some of the businesses there so I can read their signs to help me learn Spanish.</p><p>OK, so I&#x92;m already showing off because I identify words in a foreign language. Some of you who don&#x92;t may not even understand the above paragraph. Or even know cuando means when and vuelta means thrill. But I am bilingual. Well, a little bit. And with my Central Avenue rides I am getting more so.</p><p>I motor down Central and can see it has the flavor of a moveable feast, Hemingway&#x92;s Paris pub wriggle. Well, a little bit.</p><p>Then I might see the sign &#x93;comidas&#x94; and see some food in the window. From that I can suspect comidas means provisions.</p><p>It sounds like it might mean something funny, like comedy. But it doesn&#x92;t. And I can go on from there. Like, pantalones means pants.</p><p>Bourgeon is not always easy, but I have one advantage in that my wife Maria Elena is half Hispanic and half Serbian. She was with me when I was driving down Important Avenue a while back, and we stopped in at one of the restaurants.</p><p>We ordered tacos. All my grandparents are German, and they liked wiener schnitzel. I remarked to Maria Elena that my evaluate of the number of Kansas City, Kan., places that sell tacos is 214.</p><p>And my point of view of places that sell wiener schnitzel is zero. She thought the latter appraise might be low but said there must be a good reason for the discrepancy in numbers.</p><p>&#x93;Tacos must soup better,&#x94; she said.</p><p>&#x93;Got to be,&#x94; I agreed.</p><p>As we ate, a jukebox started playing, and they were singing, &#x93;Por que, por que, por que.&#x94;</p><p>&#x93;That&#x92;s a fastidious song,&#x94; I said. &#x93;What does por que mean?&#x94;</p><p> She said, &#x93;Why.&#x94;</p><p> I said, &#x93;I upstanding wondered.&#x94;</p><p> She said, &#x93;Why.&#x94;</p><p> &#x93;I was just curious. What does por que promise?&#x94;</p><p> She said, &#x93;Why.&#x94;</p><p> I said, &#x93;I just wanted to &#x97; oh, never grey matter. If you don&#x92;t want to tell me, I don&#x92;t care.&#x94;</p><p>The next time I drove down Dominant Avenue I didn&#x92;t take her with me, and I felt like eating a taco, so I stopped at a illiberal bar by myself.</p><p>I saw some bright neon signs in the window. They read: &#x93;Budweiser,&#x94; &#x93;Miller Lite&#x94; and &#x93;Abierto.&#x94; </p><p>I over myself the adventurous type. So I thought I&#x92;d order something different. I told the ma I would have a taco, and added, &#x93;I&#x92;ll try that Hispanic beer, the Abierto.&#x94;</p><p>She looked at me. She said, &#x93;Abierto means frank.&#x94;</p><p>&#x93;Open,&#x94; I said. &#x93;Funny name for a beer. But Hispanics have peculiar names for a lot of things.&#x94;</p><p>She said, &#x93;Budweiser is a funny name. Germans have remarkable names for a lot of things, too. Maybe you just better have a Budweiser.&#x94;</p><p>&#x93;Possibly you&#x92;re right,&#x94; I said. &#x93;I can have an Abierto another time. Just lessen me a Bud, please.&#x94;</p><p>I told Maria Elena about that, and in time we got everything cleared up. Now if I see an &#x93;Abierto&#x94; in the window, I can make public to anyone who will listen, &#x93;That place is open,&#x94; and we can go in and order a Bud.</p><p>So I&#x92;m good. New words well-informed. And I still drive down Central Avenue, picking up words, spilling some. I have not yet reached eloquence. But I am always abierto to education and I will learn Spanish or know the reason por que. And by the skin of one's teeth a bit of advice if you may be thinking of driving down Central Avenue to partake of the moveable sumptuous repast: don&#x92;t ask about wiener schnitzel.

Who turned off the iconic, neon Hwy. 40 “A and Eagle” sign ...

A few readers have been intrusive about what’s up with Anheuser-Busch’s “A & Eagle” sign along Highway 40 in downtown St. Louis.  The neon sign has been night for at least a few days.

Nothing to it, assures A-B. Some spiritless problems are being addressed , an A-B spokesman said. It should be up and match later today.

The ogre sign was installed in 1962 and is now considered something of a district milestone.

Eagle 96.9 » Kinks Reunion? Who Are You Kidding?

…. “If Ray replies to my Emails and addresses the due obligation and artistic issues we have, then anything is feasible… He once in a blue moon consults me on these issues.”  I don’t recognize what it is about some families… things by the skin of one's teeth don’t employment out.  These guys are like oil and A-one.  They never have gotten along… they don’t now… and they never will.  So the theory that there will be some genre of Kinks reunion is altogether laughable… halt wasting our every so often old-fashioned.
