Is there a Route 66 museum for Neon signs and billboard?

If there isn't there should be. Many Route 66 motels have fallen to the wayside and there is short need or opportunity to preserve the entire motel, but the greatest chips of these landmarks were their signs. Most often lit up in Neon these unique signs drew in lethargic drivers

There are several museums along Path 66 that have some of the old Neon signs. While you cannot drive all of Route 66 there are still tons of it that you can. You can also access most of the Direct 66 towns off of the new interstates. There are several groups like the Arizona

Mob, neon, nukes: Las Vegas museums capture unique history

It seems 2012 could well be the Year of the Museum for Southern Nevada.

Some may scoff at the impression that facilities dedicated to neon signs, organized crime and the development of atomic weapons are worthy of museum status. But when you consider that by definition, a museum is “a apartment or building where objects of historical, artistic or scientific interest are exhibited, preserved or contrived,” there’s no question that all three qualify for their preservation of significant elements in our locality’s history.

While the Neon Museum, the National Museum of Organized Crime and Law Enforcement and the Jingoistic Atomic Testing Museum will never be mistaken for the Louvre, all three will offer exhibits that explicate how Southern Nevada was shaped into what it is.

All three will be home to significant happenings in 2012, including the formal openings of the Neon Museum and what has become known as the Mob Museum.

Southern Nevada often is criticized for being culturally adrift. Some Las Vegas casino companies have tried with cross-bred results to fill the void by building art galleries as a part of their amenities. They didn’t seem to exertion because they felt out of place. Would you rather spend an afternoon touring the halls of the Getty in Southern California or see a small number of Picassos and Monets just down the hall from the dollar slots?

Oakland Daily Photo: ABC Wednesday: R is for Rio Motel

This cold-blooded neon sign looks to be in put form without considering it's age.  I in the end like it's 1930s sensibility, although I disquiet the sign is that old.  The Rio now seems to be a stay motel and from the skin appears to be well kept.  It's located on West MacArthur Blvd., formerly a big thoroughfare through metropolis, and now a down and out sack.  The Profound Motel is located on the same concourse but on the other end of community.  Mac Arthur Blvd. basically runs north-south and is the secret dividing array between the haves and have-nots.  But like everything else in Oakland, there are many exceptions to this "preside over."  For other R photos be indubitable to visit ABC Wednesday this week.
