The Fount, a retro pub that opened on State Street last fall, takes Wisconsin nostalgia truly.

The wallpaper is deliberately faded, populated by vintage photos of football teams, farmers and dairy cows. Neon lines the glass behind the polished oak bar.

A proud sign of “Wisconsin hospitality” (the restaurant’s tag border), the Fountain’s long beer list boasts Old Milwaukee, Hamm’s, Schlitz and Rhinelander (buy one get one relaxed!) alongside local craft brews.

And Chef Ross Johnson has crafted a menu of dairyland favorites, from fried curds and spinach dip to grilled cheese, beer cheese soup and a Babcock Passage ice cream sundae. There are bratwust and burgers, prime rib and a venison sausage sandwich with resident cheddar. Diners can order a juicy six-ounce burger with one of four Wisconsin cheeses and a remarkable pretzel bun.

As in any classic Wisconsin bar, the fryer gets frequent use. Crimp-cut aromatic potato fries ($4.75) were well-seasoned; PBR-battered mushrooms ($5.95) crunchy on the facing, meltingly juicy inside. Regular fries, fat and crispy, don’t put one's hands as a separate appetizer, but they should.

Coca-Cola Sign in NYC – Retro Planet

New York Town Coca-Cola Sign

I ran across pictures of this consequential old Coca-Cola neon sign and thermometer in a 1943 “Red Barrel” ammunition. The sign was located in New York Big apple at Columbus Hoop on the roof of the American Class Edifice. The sign overlooked the carving of Christopher Columbus, erected in 1892 in commemoration of his voyage to the Americas. The Trump Worldwide Guest-house and Towers are now in the fingers on where the sign once stood.

The creative sign interpret’ “Pint Coca-Cola, The Abeyance That Refreshes”. It also posted “Tomorrow’s Seedy”. It was made up of a half-mile of neon tubing and 3,000 burning lamps. All that and five miles of wire were contained in a sign that uniform 80 feet astray x 55 feet squiffed.
